Game Changer Wrestling: Scene Of The Crime

Mesa, Arizona, Wrestling

Before I go into this post, these images would not have been Taken without The generosity of Nick Karp(@NickKarpPhotos). Nick has been a longtime creative peer who I met in a photo pit in Chicago and again in a facebook group about concert photography. Nick has been a source of continual creative inspiration for me. Anything I post that is not corporate related I try to add a level of gritt and edginess to emulate Nick's work.

Nick, you rock and I appreciate You so dang much.

If you are only familiar with wrestling through the lens of WWE, the easiest way to summarize Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) is to compare to when your friend hands you the aux cord and you take the vibe from Drake to Knocked Loose. GCW is a wrestling promotion based out of New Jersey, known for their hard hitting, fast paced and hardcore matches. GCW has been touring the states and stopped by The Nile Theatre in Mesa for a show this past Friday and it lived up to everything I've ever heard about the promotion.

The moment Emil Jay (the host/ring announcer for GCW) got in the ring to kick off the show, the fans at The Nile surrounded the ring and began slamming their hands on the ring in unison and the hair on my arms stood up. You see it online and in clips, but nothing compares to being so close to a whole bunch of crazy rapid wrestling fans who are ready to see a bunch of wrestlers beat each other up.
